Finding Artwork For The Heart Of Our Home September 8, 2020
One of the most common questions I get asked about our home is how I figured out what kind of overall theme/vibe we wanted. It’s hard to explain my train of thought – but I will do my best. When we moved into our home in August of last year I knew I wanted to keep the colors very light and airy. I started decorating room by room and focused on pieces I really loved (things that were classic pieces and not “trendy items.”
As I started decorating our living room, I knew I wanted this room to be the heart of our home. We spend the most time in here as a family so it was important to me that it felt like the coziest room besides our bedrooms of course. I struggled with decorating the walls for this room and to be honest- this was the last room of the house that I finished because of that. I started making a list of the things I was looking for and then tried to narrow it down from there. I wanted artwork that really spoke to the neutrality of our home but was also real photographs and not just an abstract painting. One of the last decisions I made was going with three separate pieces of art next to each other rather than one large canvas. I found that this added dimension to the room- and I was able to mix and match pieces I loved because it’s so hard to narrow it down to just one.
If you’ve browsed artwork before I am sure you’ve seen some pretty steep price tags. Add in framing, matting etc, it ends up costing a fortune. What I love about these three pieces from Desenio is that even framed- the price was right in our budget. Although each photo is unique and different- I do feel like they all compliment one another perfectly.
Desenio has been so kind and they decided to provide a coupon code for all Little Tree readers for the next two days!! From Sept 8-Sept 10, 2020 you can get 25% off with code LITTLETREE25. When we ordered our prints they came in a tube separate from the frames- and everything was packaged really well to avoid any mishaps during shipment. This really put me at ease because nothing was damaged.
If you’re like me and struggle to find the artwork to decorate your home- look no further because there is truly something for everyone on their site. I also love the gallery wall ideas they have- gives so much inspiration!!
I wanted a place that my family could all be together – cozy and comfortable and our living room is just that. If I could share any advice to new home owners looking to decorate is to make sure that you do your research on furniture and of course on artwork. Find a theme that feels like it could be used throughout your home- whatever that may be! Once you narrow down what you want your theme to be it’s easier to choose artwork to coincide with that!
I couldn’t be happier with our choices and I feel like it was the final touch we needed to make the living room feel complete! What is one big decorating hurdle you want to overcome in your home? I hope you find the courage to finish any projects you’ve started- and now is the perfect time to make your home feel like the coziest space for you and your family!
