The facts of life according to me — part two

March 9, 2011

Here we are again! Yesterday I concluded with #3, and today as promised I will deliver #4 & #5 of my “facts of life, according to me” I hope you enjoyed the first part, and if you have anything to add, please feel free to comment, or even make your own list linking to this one- I would love to read it!

4. The source of most of your frustrations and anxiety

are the result of living in the future, or the past.

This is something I believe a great deal of people struggle with, including myself. Worrying so much about what has happened or what may happen, when in reality we don’t know what the future may bring. It’s important to stay grounded in the present time and remember that the only time you have control over is right now. Unless you are a psychic and can see into the future, which most of us are not, you cannot worry about things that have not happened yet or may not happen at all. Take every day for what it is, react accordingly and take your time. Again this is something most people struggle with so I think reminding yourself daily to be present *right now* is important.

 5. Cherish the ones you love

This goes hand in hand with doing things straight from the heart. We all have people in our lives who mean a lot to us. These people may be a significant other, a friend, a family member, or even a co worker. If someone means a lot to you, cherish that love and never take advantage of it. It’s important to treat the people who love us with the utmost respect, and to treat those people how they treat us. I also believe that because life is extremely short, it is important to always tell people how we feel. I am guilty of not always being as affectionate as I should be with my family, and I assume they “just know.” Sometimes it’s nice to tell someone how much you love them, whether that be through a card, or just giving that person a hug and saying , thank you for being you. That’s all it takes, and it makes a huge difference.  People will always remember and admire the little things you do.

One of my favorite quotes by Maya Angelou:

“I’ve learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on and it will be better tomorrow. I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he or she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I’ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your family, you’ll miss them when they’re gone from your life. I’ve learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life and I’ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back. I’ve learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision and I’ve learned that even when I have pains, I don’t have to be one. I’ve learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. I’ve learned that I still have a lot to learn in life and I’ve learned that people will forget what you said and what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

This concludes my facts, I hope you enjoyed them! I am going to try my best to blog in the upcoming weeks but I have a feeling it’s going to be tough considering I just accepted two new part time jobs! I am very excited and ready for both of these experiences. I hope all is well with you guys, I have topped 180 followers now and at 200 is another giveaway! Hope you all have a great week!

first, i'm guilty of worrying too much about the future. i know it will do no good, but i still can't help it.second, can you just consider being a gold digger and finding a sugar daddy so you won't have to go to work? if you say no cal will cry, and i'll karate kick and end up breaking something valuable.

Good luck in your new jobs, it must be a bit exciting, there is something fun to starting at a new place, people don't know you…you don't know them yet…they don't complain to you and there is no drama because its all new. Enjoy it…Hearts, Janna Lynn

You have a good heart, Mars.I know what you mean by living in the past…but sometimes the past reminds us a little bit of who we are when we're lost or lonely, right? These are the times when I cling to memories the most. But you're so right, being able to be present and in the now is important too. Because in the now, we redefine ourselves. Thanks for getting my thoughts flowing today:)
