Hi everyone! I am so excited to be teaming up with Hartz Home Protection Dog Pads to talk to you guys about how we prep for winter to keep our dog as happy as can be. Most people think of dog pads as a training opportunity for puppies , but we use them for so much more than that. As we all know having a dog in the family can be a lot of work. Minimizing the clean up time for your dog helps so much- especially with a young baby.
Throughout the winter months Hartz Dog Pads have saved our home from being covered in paw prints, and have also saved my dog Oliver from getting his belly wet during these crazy storms!
For anyone out there who has a small dog, you know the struggle is real when getting them to go outside when it’s snowing or raining. Oliver can’t stand being outside during this time, and being so low to the ground usually results in his belly getting wet and paws being soaked. On days when the weather is unpredictable, Oliver is trained to go on pads, and it has been very helpful for both him- and I. He is trained to go directly on the pad when told, and it has made a huge difference- especially when the baby is still sleeping and I don’t want to leave him to go outside. Since Oliver is trained to go outside 95% of the time- we do use the pads in other ways.
When the weather outside is wet or muddy, we also use these pads by the front door so we can wipe his dirty little paws! These pads are designed with six layers, so you can use them multiple times if needed. We usually have him sit on the pad when he comes in, and we wipe him down without worrying about the little paw prints covering the house. The lavender scent really helps keep it fresh and you could use it multiple times in a day if needed.
